EA Talk, Online Pressures And Taking Servers Seriously

With the current theme of FSB centred on FUT Fixes and our Bug List, a rather interesting interview has popped up on Tech Radar with EA SPORTS own Mike McCabe who talks, online pressures and server issues.

It’s a nice little read and it offers an insight in to how seriously EA take server issues and the tools they have at their disposal to resolve them.

“We want to try and fix things as quickly as possible – but servers go down and the fact that the games are much more sophisticated now than they have ever been previously means that we have redundancy, double redundancy and all sorts of things to make it as robust as possible.”

Its inexcusable that EA would release a game with so many bugs, the career mod one takes the cake though..you simply cannot sell a game which makes millions and millions every year without testing it completely

For all their talk, it’s weird that the game appears to run quicker, smoother, and just better when it’s not connected to the EA servers.

I can’t think of any other experience with a game that’s like that, can anyone else?

I also can’t think of any other game/franchise with so many problems with bugs and crashes. Especially when you consider it’s not just one edition – each year for as long as I can remember, FIFA’s MM/CM has had some serious, game-ruining issues.

Here’s to hoping that EA find a way to leave these issues behind with the transition to next gen.

(To be fair, so far I’ve only had two freezes on the Xbox, and no problems with my CM, so my fingers are crossed. Though just last night I created some custom formations in my CM, which I had been previously been avoiding doing, so….)

Tried h2h for 8 days now ans still yet to play my first game so fed up starting play pes2013 no server issues with that its as smooth as silk, having said that pes is a football game played at footballing speeds, not like fifa whos players resemble sonic and knuckles, its now wonder the servers have issues the speed the game runs at, im afraid pes has the football crown this year. Perhaps one of the ea employees has a gripe with ea and sneaked in and applied the need for speed game engine to fifa just before the game was burnt to disc

Never had any bug with my game. In fact I had more problems with FIFA 12. I’m in my second CM season and everything went well ! I’m on PC by the way.

I was brave enough to create some custom formations in CM as well and I haven’t had one issue yet. But based on everyone else’s experience, my time is coming.

I haven’t played a lot of other online games before so I don’t know the EA servers compare to other huge titles, but in saying that I do find the servers incredibly frustrating and I do expect better.

So how do EA servers compare to those of COD & Borderlands for example (for those of you who know)?

No game servers do not always go down…Call of Duty’s MW3 servers went down like this on opening day and they were fixed within 30 minutes. It’s just EA, it’s always been the same, on every game you release. Would also help if you guys had some customer service instead of ‘Live Chat’ bots!
