FIFA 12 Warfare 3 By Hjerpseth

The Norwegian maestro Marius Hjerpseth is back with part 3 of his “FIFA Warfare” series which this time see’s FIFA 12 goals spliced with Battlefield 3.

As you know, we don’t really post Goal Compilations (there are too many, you tell us you don’t like them) but this one’s just too good to miss and Marius proves once again that it’s all about quality, rather than quantity.

Enjoy.

brilliant also love the start where you can see the player on the right, when you scroll down your team..

Is that menu how it really appears for him on the game? Or just special effects for the video?

  • Tom Mills

@jono it’s a mashup of the fifa and battlefield menus.

@Jono My FIFA 12 menu is exactly the same as everybody else’s. The menu in Warfare 3 is created in an video editing software. It’s based on the Battlefield 3 menu, but I’ve given it a FIFA 12 makeover.

If you’re interested, here are a few more things that are different in “my” FIFA 12, compared to the normal FIFA 12.

The most obvious one is perhaps the commentators. If you listen to them through out the entire video (especially in the credits), you’ll find that they seem more intelligent than the normal in-game commentary. Again, this is a result of editing.

Check out the passing stats that appear at 1:14 in the video (top left corner). They appear in a normal fashion, stay on the screen for a few seconds and then animate out. Looks like it should, doesn’t it? Well, if I’ve done my job right it does. Actually, in FIFA 12 the stats HUD doesn’t animate out. It simply disappears and it looks quite bad, so I’ve fixed it up by adding an animation based on the in-animation. At 1:20, the moment it starts moving, it’s switched from the original HUD to my fake one.

This next one is really, really subtle, and some people would probably think it’s pointless to think about it, but… when you score a goal in FIFA, there is a fraction of a second where the game has to process some extra information, which creates 1-3 duplicate frames (up to 1/10 of a second where time stops). I’ve eliminated that so when the ball crosses the goal line, everything looks perfectly smooth with no duplicate frames.

There’s more, but I think you get my point. Man, I got carried away with this post! Time to stop typing.

Oh, and the jets. They’re fake. you can’t really blow stuff up in FIFA…

    @Hjerpseth,

Wow, AMAZING job with the video editing and also brilliant playing skills. Oh.. and towards the end with the first-person be-a-pro view and gameplay… Hint of what’s in store for FIFA 13 or 14? Would def love that!!

That really is a seriously good job… I use After Effects for my job and i can see a lot of stuff in this vid that is hard to do.. some seriously good keying and masking for the menus etc.

Recreating menus to look perfect etc is hard.. they look great

I can tell there is a huge amount of work involved.

The eye for the creative stuff too is great all the timings etc. are all spot on.

    Very impressed.
