Montreal Impact striker Marco Di Vaio will feature in this season’s MLS All-Star game thanks to all the FIFA fans globally who scored 73,838 goals with him in a week.
Never before has a video game been used to determine the participation of a professional athlete in an All-Star game, but Marco Di Vaio is now the first. By winning the AT&T MLS All-Star “In The Game” contest he will now feature in the big game. FIFA fans around the world who from July 3 to July 10 scored as many goals as possible with 26 eligible MLS forwards in FIFA 13 decided the winner by their performances.
“I am very proud and honored to be the first ever player selected to the MLS All-Star team by the millions of FIFA Soccer 13 players around the world,” said Marco Di Vaio.” I would like to thank all those fans around the world who played FIFA 13. I am proud to represent the Montreal Impact as an MLS All-Star.”
The Los Angeles Galaxy’s Robbie Keane came in 2nd place with 69,797 goals. In total, 488,611 goals were scored with eligible MLS forwards in FIFA Soccer 13 during the challenge.
