FIFA WC2010 A Hidden Gem?

There seems to have been a mini revolution on Twitter in the last week or so with the emphasis shifting from FIFA 11 and its faults to FIFA World Cup 2010 and just how good it was. The team at WENB are mighty impressed with it along with some prominent FIFA community members and sites as well. Some have called it the best FIFA to date, so do we have a hidden gem on our hands here?

I’ve been back and played FIFA World Cup 2010 a lot recently and I’ve had a blast. The game has a few issues which hamper the experience a little but in terms of overall enjoyment I really can’t knock it so far. With the game flying around on the internet at the moment for as little as £10 it also represents very good value as well.

If there’s enough interest we’ll go back and do a proper FIFA 2010 World Cup review (as myself and Tom weren’t around at the time) and try to find out what FIFA can learn from this game, if anything and if it’s really as good as people say it is.

So, what do you think of FIFA World Cup 2010? Do you love it, hate it or just don’t care about World Cup games? Or is it in fact the best FIFA game we’ve seen this generation?

Yeah, Clive & Townsend commentary is heaps better than boring Tyler & Gray.

WC lovers gotta be crazy. Better than FIFA 11? FIFA 11 is heavily flawed, with gamespeed variations, an unrealistic and sometimes animalesque phisicality (specially in classic matches and in the PS3 version), but WC is crappy compared to FIFA.

Graphics, realism and the gameplay…oh god, I could easily pick Brasil and put 6-0 against England, Legendary Mode in a WC Final! Come on. It was piece of cake.

Unrealistic scores may happen in FIFA 11 as well as unreal performances and gameplay but nothing, nothing close do what WC presented, I garantee you. WC was a preparation for 11 and Rutter team suceeded…almost shortly, but they did. Several improvements – which means improvements not cuts, ok, Rutter? – should be made for FIFA 12 (and don’t forget the damn Tube TV owners, some places in the world still charge high prices for LCDs) in order to keep FIFA ahead of PES.

    “James say:
As mentioned above the sounds/graphics were quality, the sound of the ball hitting the back of the net was the best sound”

Yes!!! Kind of made scoring a goal exciting, especially when you smashed the ball in and you would hear the thud of the net support hitting the ground. Kind of like the sound when Rooney scored against Chelsea the other night.

Can’t stand the sound of the ball hitting the framework in FIFA 11. Minor, I know, but totally takes the fun out of scoring off the frame

“especially when you smashed the ball in and you would hear the thud of the net support hitting the ground. ” This is still in fifa 11, but it’s better, cause you need to hit the net hard, not just touch the net, as in WC. The problem for me in WC was that when you did score it did stutter a little bit. Not perfectly optimized ;/ One more thing that did hit me yesterday when I played 09 was that the nets in fifa 09 is perfect! You can hit a hard low shot and the ball will roll roll upp alongside the net!

I think it is the best fifa to date. I loved the South African atmosphere and the commentary really made it even better. I still play WC2010.
