GameChanger Programme Launch & EASPORTS Want Your Ideas

EA Sports has relaunched the GameChanger programme – their newest campaign to try and involve the community with their suite of games.

The programme itself surrounds the ‘GameChangers’ – a number of influential members from the EA Sports community – who are going to be empowered to “use their expert knowledge [...] to inform, entertain, and assist others”, which will be done through videos and blogposts released on the GameChanger site. Alongside this, the GameChangers will be involved more directly with the development and support of the games via “focused feedback”.

As part of this relaunch, “My Game Idea” has been launched. The service aims to allow people to post ideas for improvements and fixes on the website, which can then be voted up/down and discussed by others.

So take a look, and get involved – there is more information on who the GameChangers are here, how you might become one here, and, the opportunity to contribute with Your ‘Game Idea’ here.

    I might look into this.

Btw, Xaor as a gamechanger i would love to hear what you think of this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQ49hyBwkWo&feature=plcp

This is a modded version of PES12 and it’s astounding the attention to detail that lies therein. The atmosphere that i get from watching this game is frightening and at sometimes pore-raising. The gameplay/buildup speed of FIFA , which i have seen your views on, need to be revamped imo. I understand that you said its mainly due to the impractical acceleration/deceleration of players and this may certainly be the case. Looking at this video shows gameplay whose speed is so close to real life (bar the arcadey ball physics and the ability for each player to run like Messi) that it leaves me to wonder : Does EA REALLY watch real football? Nevertheless, I am wondering if you , perhaps, could pass this video on to EA if/ when you get the chance. It may even open their ears to the positive possibilities that the modding community are capable of.

To me, if they would actively pursue making the game play more realistically, they would have an increased fanbase and subsequent millions more dollars coming in yearly.

Anyway, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this video. Cheers.. ^_^

Yea that video ^ , so unrealistic looking. Sorry.

  • Xavi

^ I wasnt asking YOU, specifically. However I’m more concerned about asking Xaor (who played the game) how he thinks FIFA13′s AI stacks up against it. -_-

  • Niels

Sorry, no offense but I saw a lot of unrealistic football in that video too. I think neither football game has really reached realism yet, not even close i’d say. I do love the commentary, the vibe and the crowds in PES though..
But the build up play was wat to hyperactive for me, and that 90 minutes long. The game never ever seems to slow down somewhere, although FIFA has that same problem sometimes, where it is to easy to keep playing foreward, never having to pass a ball back etc.
Somestimes real football is boring as hell, but i’d still prefer that realism over this.. But that’s probably personal..

That PES video even though it’s been heavily modded by the PC community is still really strange looking, looks and moves nothing like real life and while the AI is better than Fifa 12 it’s still pretty poor.

If Fifa 13′s AI is still not as good as PES 12′s average AI then Fifa is in trouble again.

  • Xavi

    ^ Agreed.

  • David Humber

    Why no answer from Toby/Xaor?

  • Toby Ross

@David: I’ve had exams over the last two weeks so I haven’t been able to do much. Finished today though – I’ll get round to this stuff soon.

  • David Humber

Nice one Toby :) After close to a year of Fifa 12′s awful AI and PES 12 average AI im desperate to know if Fifa’s is decent doesnt have to be amazing this time round but better than PES 12 is a must and would make some difference…i know weve had articles on the AI already but so far we aint had any comparisons.

It’s difficult because I’ve only played PES 2012 and FIFA 13 a little each, but it’s a bit of a mixed bag. In certain respects, PES’s AI is still a very long way ahead in my mind – particularly from the tactical and personality point of view. Personally I find, though PES 2012 improved it’s attacking AI a lot, the defensive side of it had some really painful tendencies, which hopefully will be dealt with for PES 2013. If so, PES 2013 will almost certainly have the better AI out of the pair of games across the board – but I think PES’s AI is pretty advanced, even if it does have a fairly small number of quite considerable problems.

The thing is that AI is probably the most difficult area of the game to get right – sadly for sport games, it is of paramount importance. FIFA 13′s AI, at least in attack, is way, way better – this is more of a point about how poor FIFA 12′s was than anything, but I’d say the sheer jump should please. The defensive AI has improved a bit, and it sort of keeps pace with the attacking changes, but not enough. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be the #1 major frustration this year for me – along with locomotion of course. Comparing to PES 2012 is difficult – they share many of the same problems. I think PES 2012 is a little better when it comes to managing width up and down the pitch, but maybe a little less good at managing line height – as I said though, I haven’t played much PES 2012 this year. Plenty of free time now though!

    - I’ll have a look at that video later/tomorrow, it’s quite long.

Get Ukraine League and Dynamo Zagreb as a Rest of the World team

The reason why i cant play Fifa these days is due to playing PES 12 and getting used to the better AI it makes playing Fifa a chore, The reason why i cant play PES is the awful animations, awful graphics and awful sound…The PS2 games had better animations and better atmosphere the game has gone backwards on so many levels.

Surly it’s not another year of not really liking a football game :(
