gamescom – FIFA 13 PS Move Details

Just when you thought EA had finished their gamescom announcements, David Rutter popped up on stage again (new shirt and all) at the Sony conference to demo FIFA 13′s Playstation Move controls.

It was a fairly brief presentation but here’s what we know…

  • The PS Move nunchuck controls player movement
  • The PS Move Wand controls a line which comes from the players feet.
  • This line can be used to “paint” player runs on the pitch, or direct passes to team mates.
  • You can track opposition players by using the T button.

So as you can see, not much but the video below courtesy of CVG does show you how it works. Word of warning, the lines on screen look pretty horrific.

‘word of warning, the lines on the screen look pretty horrific’, no kidding lol, looks ridic. on the other hand the movement animations looks smother and ‘wholer’ if that makes sense

i dont know why anyone would play like this

  • Tee

It’s like the wii. I assure you though, people who master this method will have a massive advantage:
No more wrong through balls or wrong passes, and if it is similar to wii, you can choose which players go on runs..

i think they should get rid of those lines, just circles would be pretty enough..

@RustySly that’s what we said on the recent podcast, I don’t see why that line back to the player in possession is necessary at all, it’s very obvious who has the ball anyway and all you need to know is where you’re pointing. I don’t see what value the line adds.

Hopefully it can be changed but at this juncture I very much doubt it.

I love the idea of using the MOVE. A bit of variety, perhaps it will feel good to use.

Would be nice if there was a way to dim those passing and shooting lines. Perhaps an option to choose the brightness. Not a bad idea imo.

@Dave Do you know if the voice control works on the PlayStation Move too for FIFA13? If it works, I think i will just stick to my controller and turn on the PlayStation Eye only.

This looks rubbish, sorry. Good idea, but I’m sure it can be implemented better, and if you’re going to use this clip as a demonstration to everyone, why wouldn’t they use one that looked simpler. Near the end of the vid, there were about 6 arsenal players in the opposing box! Not a great vid demonstrating the realism of fifa football.

with 360 Kinect you can yell formationsetting and other stuff. that’s not included with the PS3 move camera/mic?
