GamesMaster FIFA 12 Review – 94%

The very first FIFA 12 review has been released by gaming magazine GamesMaster and their response to EA SPORTS latest football gaming experience was overwhelmingly positive, scoring FIFA 12 a massive 94%. But, GamesMaster also rated FIFA 11 at 94% too, so that doesn’t sound like a great deal of progress to me.

The reviews from the large gaming publications always make for interesting reading whether you trust them or not, especially when you compare the scoring to the previous iteration. If FIFA 12 is indeed “the freshest and most fearless FIFA in living memory” then how can it be scored exactly the same as FIFA 11?

Our review of FIFA 12 this year will break the game down in to it’s component parts providing individual scoring of each element and then rounding that up in to an overall review score and verdict at the end. We’ll bring you news on when our FIFA 12 review will drop very soon.

GamesMaster will hit store shelves this Monday.

Put shooting on semi or manual… You can have as much or as little control as you want.

WC2010 was fun but majorly flawed… You could score too easily with taped soft shots no way it would have lasted a full year of game play.

I think there are some diluded nostalgic fan boys on this forum who if they actually sat down and played pes 6, pes 2012 demo and fifa 09 10 wc and 11 next to each other might stop banging on about the older games being better. Fact is they arnt. The most current ones are the best ones by far.

Just because they where a massive leap for their respective years dosnt mean they stand up aganst todays efforts.

The pes 6 is perfect bollocks is so stupid… If you actually sit down and play it it so incredibly old feeling. The gameplay. Ai and controls are just not up to todays standards. It was a big leap then its not now, get over it.

PES 12 doesnt have that option it’s fully assisted with very little manual input.

  • Phil Johnston

Is there not a manual pass button in pes 12?

  • Total Football

    Talking about shooting.

Guys I know this has absolutely nothing to do with this post, but it would be great if someone could answer-When you pre-order FIFA 12 from amazon, does the money get took off your bank account straight away?Or does it come off when the game gets delivered?Again it would be great if someone could tell me!

  • dibils

    @imSuperSerial:

the money gets taken out when the item is dispatched

  • ImSuperSerial

cheers dibils,It should come off around 3-5 days before the 30th then because I think that’s when its dispatched.

PES 6 was the best at its time but it doesn’t hold up too well currently, agreed. I can’t comment on PES 2011 on PS2 as I stopped buying after 2007 so I will not bother making comments that would be based off reviews.

PES 2012 does allow you to remove the game assists but it honestly doesn’t feel too hard to pass. Maybe it’s ok and that is how it feels after playing FIFA 11 for so long, maybe there is still some slight CPU aid. Shooting had no assist for me, the thing with the demo is that it won’t save your settings, you must change them after each game :(.

@imsuperserial from amazon, it’ll be 2-3 days before when the money gets taken. They usually get it to you a day early, but its next day postage.

  • Luka tone

    Corluka should be rated 94!

  • ImSuperSerial

@Tom Mills on amazon, if I had to choose the free delivery option would it still get to me either a day early or on the day off release?Or would I have to pay for first class?

  • Phil Johnston

It normaly arrives day before on normal delivery and im in norrthern ireland

That’s bullshit Phil. FIFA WC is twice the game FIFA 11 is.

FIFA 11 tackling system is the worse system in any football game on the next gen platform. The magnetic catch up shit is really evident in FIFA 11 too.

I went back to playing FIFA WC after taking FIFA 11 back after a couple of months. In the end I ended up giving PES a go. To me PES feels like real football… the individuality is immense, tackling takes skill, dribbling past a player feels rewarding, deflected goals, goal mouth scrambles. It’s not perfect by any means but it feels more like a real game of football.

From the sounds of the previews FIFA 12 will basically be FIFA WC gameplay with a handful of features thrown in. Probably should’ve been the game we got 12 months ago. It’s a shame EA had to go backwards before going forward.

Fifa WC is far too arcadey, yes it’s enjoyable but it’s not realistic. It is the Fifa game that comes closest to PES on PS2 though gameplay wise.

  • Yummers

Fifa WC is a far better game than Fifa 11 for one reason. ONLINE!! Its much more down to skill. I mean you can take Andorra and beat Spain online if you have the skills. On Fifa 11 if you tried to take say Shamrock Rovers (half star) against Barcelona online you would NEVER win due to the broken game mechanics. Too arcadey and not down to skill at all.

If Fifa 12 is more like 11 than WC then I wont get it. Online is where its at.

“On Fifa 11 if you tried to take say Shamrock Rovers (half star) against Barcelona online you would NEVER win”

So basically you dont like realism?

Far as I know you can curve the ball left and right (players with outside curve perk do that better), control shot power, shot direction, shot emphasis (precision or sheer power), shot type (normal, volley, chip). Of course I’m talking about PES 2011, I’ve yet to try a production-ready PES 2012 demo.
