Mirror Football Interview The Ox On FIFA 13

As we all know Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain along with Joe Hart and Leo Messi are on the UK cover of FIFA 13 and John Cross (Mirror Football) grabbed the man himself for an interview about his new role and his first year in the top flight.

All of the FIFA 13 stuff is at the top but here’s a snippet to whet the appetite.

“It’s mad really, for me. Obviously, growing up every lad plays FIFA – even if you’re not much of a football fan, at some point you will play FIFA. You’re always seeing the players on the front and they almost become a symbol for a game like that and for football. I think I remember whether it be Zidane who I saw on the front, Messi, – they stick in your mind. So to be one of those players on the front of the cover is a massive honour for myself and one I’m really proud of.”

It’s a good interview and well worth a look, although Arsenal fans may want to miss out the Alex Song and RVP questioning.

Good cover star choice?

Not a good cover star. He hasnt really earnt it and didnt FIFA learn from last year after they put Wilshere on the front and he didnt even play all season.

I think that Ox and Joe Hart are good choices. New generation of footballers, much better than having rooney on the front for the 6th time. Is Ox the lowest rated cover star though, hes only a 75 on the new game i think?

definately not earned this role there are so many more deserving english players,

I like the Ox he will become a player that Theo Walcott should have been… good choice EA not sure on hart tho just making me think city will be a super team again capable of beating barca like 10-0

I’m not sure why people think being on a FIFA cover is something to be “earned”. It’s a cover, used for marketing. It is not a Ballon d’Or.

  • Rob

@bob, Ox is one if not THE brightest talents in english football, so is Wilshere.

he did not play last season because he was injured.

  • Jon

Reasons ea chose Oxlade, probably because he’s young, and he appeals to teens. I agree with Glenn, it’s just a marketing plan. Ea generally always use a young guy on their cover, anyway

    just read

PES 2013 will be “the last in this generation of consoles with this engine”

… this could mean ea has to deal with a superb new konami engine… and perhaps ea will go the same way when pes does.. sure they dont want to loose their position on the market
