Confirmation of the announcement of next-gen FIFA comes today courtesy of Frank Gibeau, President of EA Labels, during the company’s fourth quarter earnings call.
EA are planning a “full reveal” for next-gen titles from DICE, EA Sports and BioWare during E3 2013. Get ready folks, it’s getting serious.
“Regarding next-generation consoles, we are under a non-disclosure agreement with our platform partners, however, we’re planning a full reveal at E3 including more next-generation titles in development for FY14.”
“This will include breakthroughs in graphics and gameplay for some of our biggest franchises including Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, NBA Live and Need for Speed. We plan to unveil new titles from EA Sports, BioWare and DICE and a first look at some brand new games.”
Gibeau also mentions the brand new sports engine being developed at EA Sports, that is believed to be set for an unveiling at E3 and shown off alongside Frostbite 3. He added, these engines will power “all of our development on the new systems.”
The statements from Gibeau confirm what we already knew, that a next-gen FIFA does exist and furthermore it gives us a date to look forward to. The interesting point he made is regarding Non-Disclosure Agreements with platform holders. As expected Sony and Microsoft would want to save their biggest announcements for E3 and FIFA fits into that category. We wonder though if it will make an appearance alongside Call Of Duty: Ghosts and the new Respawn Entertainment IP at the Xbox Reveal event on the 21st of May.
