UK PS3 FIFA Players Wanted

The first two FIWC UK Online pre-qualifier events have been signed up for, but there’s still four events left – and if you’ve got a PS3, you can play.

The dates and links for the events are as follows:

FIWC UK Online Pre-Qualifier 3 (22/01/10 – 01/02/10)
FIWC UK Online Pre-Qualifier 4 (12/02/10 – 19/02/10)
FIWC UK Online Pre-Qualifier 5 (22/02/10 – 01/03/10)
FIWC UK Online Pre-Qualifier 6 (03/03/10 – 10/03/10)

The top two players from each event will qualify for the UK live event that will be taking place at the Emirates stadium on 22nd March, where they will have the opportunity to win a trip to Barcelona for the global final and possibly the championship title – plus a cool $20,000.

FIWC Dates & Venues

Hello FIFASoccerBlog – long time no speak! There’s been very little FIFA news coming out of Vancouver – it’s almost as if they’re working on a new release already, hmmm – but here’s some info about this year’s FIWC.

The four Sony PlayStation live pre-qualifier events have been confirmed with eight places on offer for the UK Live event in March. These are the final set of live pre-qualifier events and are being hosted at a number of Goals Soccer Centres (five-a-side centres) across the UK.

In addition, the date and location for the UK Live event has now been confirmed as Monday 22nd March at the Emirates. So good luck in qualifying FIFA fans!

FIWC 2010 Plus Announcement Of MATES Leagues

FIFA UK Community Manager Mr. Philip Wride has let us know of some FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) developments. But it’s not so much the FIWC bit that interests me (when it comes to my FIFA skill level I’m more Dave Kitson than Fernando Torres), more the reference to “MATES Leagues”. Take a look at this part of the statement:

There will also be a selection of UK online pre-qualifiers utilising EA SPORTS’ new “MATES Leagues” platform which enables users to create and manage their own leagues and cups.

Interesting stuff indeed. So, if you’ve got a PS3, or you’re just nosey, take a look at the press release in full by clicking the read more button below.

The ten best players of season one from across the FIFA confederations will go through to the Grand Final, which will take place at Port Olympic in Barcelona on 1st May 2010.

Players who didn’t make it during season one have another shot at their spot in the Grand Final in season two, which kicks off on 4 January 2010 and concludes on 31 March 2010. Registration for participating in the online leg of the FIWC 10 tournament will take place directly inside the retail version of FIFA 10 on PS3 from 2 October across Europe and Asia and from 20 October in North America.

Congratulations Bruce Grannec

Frenchman Bruce Grannec is this season’s FIFA Interactive World Cup winner. Out of a huge number of competitors – over 500,000 people entered the event – Bruce managed to grind his way into this season’s FIWC final, held at Port Olympic in Barcelona, and chalk up a 3-1 win against Mexico’s Ruben Zerecero.
