He’s not joking…

He has 182,000 subscribers on YouTube, a quite incredible 53,000 followers on Twitter and most importantly he got hands on time with FIFA Street just last week. How did FIFA Street play? How were the Skill Moves? And will the YouTube community take to FIFA Street? The FIFA phenomenon KSIOlajidebt answers those questions and more in our exclusive FSB Interview. Enjoy.

[FSB] Which part of the new FIFA Street gameplay impressed you the most?

“It has got to be the skill moves. I’m a big fan of skill moves, so being able to see the different variations on skills and especially the air skill moves, is just wonderful. It was so cool to see every skill move and nothing felt more amazing then getting past a player at the right time with a beautiful skill move. The funny thing is, I haven’t even played the final version yet, just an Alpha…AN ALPHA! And I’m already drooling… Incredible.”

[FSB] How did you find the new trick system, did you find it easy to pick up?

“At first it was weird, because I have learnt off by heart nearly (if not every single one) most skill moves in the game, and since I know that when you face different directions in FIFA 12, you have to make sure you do the right skill move accordingly to where you are facing. However with FIFA Street, all the skill moves are all in 1 direction, independent of where you’re facing, and this is probably going to be the hardest thing for me (and most skillers) to adjust to in FIFA Street. Practice makes perfect I guess.”

[FSB] How differently does FIFA Street play compared to FIFA 12?

“Like I said in the previous question, it’s just the skills that will take getting used to, everything else is the same. You can shoot, you can head the ball, you can pass etc. Simple. If you played FIFA 12, you will feel quite comfortable with FIFA Street with just a few hours of playing it. It’s easy to pick up, but it’s hard to master. However, if you can become really good at the game, oh, good, lord the damage that could be done, especially to a noob… yikes! Almost forgot about the tackling. It’s slightly different to FIFA 12 in a sense that when you “Contain” you get a lot closer to the player in FIFA Street ( I think this it’s sort of what FIFA 13 needs to be like) and it is all about tackling the ball at the right time. Since I was playing right next to Hjerpseth and the lads, I knew when they were about to tackle or “try” to get past me, so in a sense; it was much easier to defend. However, when it comes to playing someone online, I’m sure that will be the real challenge.”

[FSB] Which FIFA Street Match Type did you like the most?

“1v1 Panna does it for me. It’s definitely the best modes up there. It’s basically a mode where you have to embarrass your opponent as much as possible. Absolutely Amazing!”

[FSB] Was there a particular player that stood out for you whilst you were playing?

“To be honest, everyone is just as good, maybe Ronaldo is just that bit quicker than other players at doing skill moves, but other than that, everyone can do every skill move, even the freaking Goalkeeper!”

[FSB] What were your thought’s on the different arenas and locations in FIFA Street?

“Brilliant…Just brilliant! I don’t really need to say more to be honest.”

[FSB] Do you think the FIFA YouTube community will take to FIFA Street once it’s released?

“I’m sure the community will take this game with open arms, it will truly revolutionize FIFA on Youtube. FIFA skillers will finally be able to really put themselves out there, especially since this will be their kind of game. Compilations won’t be be repetitive, but will be full of creativity and I’m sure there will be numerous jaw dropping moments, videos will become even more entertaining. FIFA Street will increase the FIFA Community even more and forget COD, FIFA is the right, and best community to be in at the moment.”

[FSB] Did you find yourself getting ideas for new videos as you were playing?

“My mind was exploding with ideas. I won’t mention any here, but there is definitely a bright future between me and FIFA Street.”

[FSB] And finally, why do people think you’re funny?

“I think it’s because I’m different to other commentators…Really…Really…Really…Different…Haha!”

Time for the second interview with bands appearing on the FIFA 12 Soundtrack. Last week we spoke to PSR, this time it’s soundtrack newcomers All Mankind.

[FSB] You guys are from Australia, do you still spend most of your time there

Yes and no. We often go overseas, we spent about 5 months of the year OS last year and we are heading over to the UK in September and will spend about 12 months based there. Any chance to come home though we will take it, it’s always nice to go home and spend time with our family and friends.

[FSB] What clubs do you support?

Well seeing as we are Sydney boys we have to go for our home team of Sydney F.C. in the Australian A-league which we like to get along to now and then. As far as international teams go we have a soft spot in our hearts for Manchester United, mostly because one of our great friends in England is a die hard fan and also because we know someone who works for them and got us in for a tour of Old Trafford on one of our trips. That was pretty amazing to see such a football Mecca with all it’s history.

[FSB]Which member of the band is the best FIFA player?

Oh that’s tough. First things first, we aren’t very good at the game even though we have played hours and hours of it. We are button mashers for sure! But i would have to say Dave is the best, he is the biggest gamer so he has the natural gaming skills.

[FSB] And who is the worst FIFA player?

Not as tough, that would be Gav. He isn’t as much of a football fan to begin with, where the rest of the boys grew up playing football on the weekends but he didn’t. So the rest of us have that advantage over him. He’s getting better though!

[FSB] Do you have any tried and trusted teams or formations that you stick with in FIFA 11?

Honestly we don’t have heaps of time to devote to the Career mode on FIFA 11, we mostly just setup a quick game, 2 on 2, something like that. So we just pick a good team, one of our fav teams normally, and get stuck in. We still get hooked and feel the adrenaline when you put away that last minute goal. Honestly, a lot of the time it’s more satisfying to win a game of FIFA than it is winning a game for your local club on the weekend.

[FSB] Do you get much time to play FIFA when recording or on the road?

When you travel you don’t often get the chance to stay somewhere that has a playstation or xbox. Luckily we have certain friends we sometimes stay with, they have FIFA, we always sneak in a few games with them when we can.

[FSB] “Break The Spell” is set to feature on the FIFA 12 soundtrack, what did that mean for you guys in terms of broadening your audience?

It’s only early days on our FIFA journey and already we are seeing the effects of being on one of the most loved games in the world. The hardcore fans that read this blog, listen to the FIFA podcast and hang out for any information about the new game have flocked to our video, facebook page, webpage in numbers we don’t often see. The reaction in the last few days has been amazing!! Everyone has reacted really positively as well which is great because we know the FIFA fans are very particular and protective of their game, they want to know that it’s living up to the amazing standard that EA has kept it at for years. It’s humbling to know so many of them approve of us being on the soundtrack. But to have millions of people listening to your music, it’s priceless and honestly is humbling because not many people ever get to be on it. We are one of the chosen few, it’s pretty special.

[FSB] Did you have any input on the track being used in FIFA 12, or was it chosen for you?

The guys at EA felt that Break The Spell was the right song for the soundtrack. When they ask you if you want to put your song on the FIFA 12 soundtrack you catch your breath and just say yes!

[FSB] FIFA soundtracks are known for being extremely eclectic, what do you think makes “Break The Spell” a good fit?

Break The Spell is one of those tracks that is energetic, the whole song just keeps building, it’s exciting. I think that type of song can really enhance a sports game. Especially if you are on a roll and your heart is pumping a bit and a rocking song comes on, it just gets you worked up all that more. We are pleased to be one of the bands that brings that dynamic to the soundtrack.

[FSB] If you could pick any All Mankind track to feature on the FIFA 13 soundtrack, what would it be?

Hmmm thats tricky. Actually we have a single coming out shortly called Can You Hear Me? In the song there is a bit of a chant section where lots of people sing along just like at a football game where everyone gets involved in the chants. It would be cool to bring the chanting into your game room as well with that song! That would really complete the experience.

[FSB] And finally, what can we expect from All Mankind over the next 12 months?

In August we have our previously mentioned single Can You Hear Me? coming out on August 29th and after that we are releasing our album Simple Desire on September 26th. We can’t wait for people to hear it, we think it is pretty special and think that a lot of other people will too. Along with that we will be touring around the UK and Europe for a while. If you want to keep track of dates, or get a special invite-only listen to the album, you can head to our Website

FSB would like to say a huge thanks to Rich and Dave for the help setting this one up. You can see more of the guys on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and iTunes.

Without further ado, here’s “Break The Spell”, Enjoy.

They were on the FIFA 10 soundtrack and now Pint Shot Riot are back for FIFA 12. FIFA Soccer Blog talk exclusively to bassist “Baby Dave” who just happens to be a massive FIFA fan. We talk FIFA 11, FIFA 12, game modes, music, Pint Shot Riot and um Marlon King…

[FSB] You guys are from Coventry but are you all Coventry City fans?

Well, Me, Rocket and Mini are all lucky enough to be Coventry fans but Rob is a Bluenose. He was born in Redditch which is closer to Birmingham so we’ll let him off but we weren’t happy when Marlon King switched to the dark side this summer. Particularly from a FIFA point of view, he was the best player in the team by miles with a stat of 72. Without him, we’re looking at straight 60-65 players for CCFC in FIFA 12 I reckon, cheers Marlon.

[FSB] Which member of Pint Shot Riot is the best FIFA player?

No question, yours truly. Saying that Mini isn’t too bad but the other two are hopeless. That’s how come you’ve got the bass player doing this interview.

[FSB] Which member of Pint Shot Riot is the worst FIFA player?

Draw between Rob and Rocket, I played the two of them together last time we played and they turned it off at half-time because it was 6 nil!

[FSB] Do you have any favourite teams which you use in FIFA 11?

Real Madrid, 4-1-2-1-2, Kaka as attacking midfielder, Ronaldo up front with Higuain, at 60mins switch in Benzema and Adebyeor up front, stick Ronaldo on the right wing, can’t go wrong. I just like a 4-4-2 kinda set-up and Real have the best players for that formation I reckon.

[FSB] Which FIFA game modes do you play the most, Career Mode, Online, Pro Clubs?

When a new FIFA comes out, it’s a quick season or two in Career Mode, then strictly online for me.

[FSB] How much time do you get to spend playing FIFA when touring and recording are on the agenda?

When touring and recording, not so much but when we have downtime I’m bang at it every chance.

[FSB] ”Not thinking straight” featured on the FIFA 10 soundtrack, how did you feel the first time you heard it in-game?

Light-headed with excitement and really proud. To be a part of my favourite game was something very special, and I can’t believe it’s happening again!

Pint Shot Riot also enjoy relaxing on rooftops.

[FSB] You’ve been invited to feature on the FIFA 12 soundtrack with “Twisted Soul”, what do you think makes your music so well suited to FIFA?

It’s hard to say because we wrote it for our own reasons. I think it has to be the kind of song you can hear again and again without getting annoyed and also it has to have the right energy, in that it can’t be too heavy or too soft. We have always tried hard to write songs that ourselves and the people we see around us can believe in, so we just come from the heart and try to avoid any unneeded bullshit.

[FSB] Did you have any input on “Twisted Soul” being used in FIFA 12, or was the track selected?

We have been working with EA for some time now and I guess our track was just in the right place at the right time. Obviously, it’s not our decision to make or I would stick the whole album on it, including B-sides!

[FSB] What does it mean to the band to be featured on the FIFA 12 soundtrack?

Of course it feels so amazing for me personally to hear my own music in my favourite game. But also, to be selected for such a huge worldwide event like a new FIFA means the world to us as musicians. It is huge validation for our music that EA considers it worth putting in to a game which will sell millions of copies all over the world. And also it generates a huge amount of online interest in us from places all over the world. Last time we received so many beautiful messages from people we could never have hoped to reach in another way, and this is all so positive for the band moving forward.

[FSB] What do you think about FIFA soundtracks in general, do you have any stand-out tracks from previous games?

The thing I like is that they always seem to include so many different styles of music from so many different countries. There is always a tune or several which can surprise, and there is probably no other way you would have heard it.

[FSB] If you could pick any Pint Shot Riot track to be on the FIFA 13 soundtrack, what would it be?

Probably the last song we wrote, we haven’t named it yet but we usually find that our favourite song is the one we are working on at that moment. That works as a good test for new songs too, because if it isn’t making us feel that way, it won’t end up being completed, and we will move on.

[FSB] And finally, what can we expect from Pint Shot Riot over the next 12 months?

Lots of hardcore, way-too-late, go-to-sleep-after-this-game sessions on FIFA, and in between more song writing and recording. Also we will be busy touring in support of our album, which is available now on itunes. Keep an eye on our website and facebook page for details of live shows and other info.

Huge thanks to Baby Dave, Pint Shot Riot and Dylan for helping to set this one up. We highly recommend that you follow the guys on Twitter, Facebook , YouTube and visit the Official Pint Shot Riot website for details on touring and to see Baby Dave’s famous blogs.

If you want to hear and download more then make sure you visit Pint Shot Riot on iTunes too, the Paul Morrell & MNVI remix of Twisted Soul gets the FIFA Soccer Blog seal of approval, top track.

To play you out, here’s the official video of Pint Shot Riot’s FIFA 12 track, Twisted Soul:

FIFA 12 gameplay producer Aaron Mchardy has recently been interviewed by Gamingbolt.com who are releasing teasing snippets of their big interview with Aaron before the full reveal. So far there have been some very interesting quotes released about FIFA’s massive rival PES2012 and here’s what Aaron had to say.

“I know that [Konami are] taking it in a different direction, and being more specific about things like player runs and all that, but I think what we’re doing is better for our game, so we’re not concerned about the features they’re doing, but I’m sure they’ll fit perfectly with their game. “

He also said…

“I think it’s a good thing to have big competitors like ourselves and Konami in the same space, we’re always pushing each other, and we’ve always got one eye on what they do. They’ve been making fantastic games for years.”

For the full teaser reveal catch the two posts on Gamingbolt here and here.

PES2012 is gathering some serious momentum now and you can of course find the very best coverage over at WENBlog.

Should EA be concerned about PES2012?

We’ve already seen a few behind the scenes FIFA 12 commentary videos (courtesy of CVG) featuring this years new commentary duo Martin Tyler and Alan Smith but now EA SPORTS have released their own, which also provides a glimpse at the new match day presentation you can expect to see in FIFA 12.

You’ll need to be quick but between 6-7 seconds in to the video you get a flash of the styling you can expect to see throughout FIFA 12′s presentation which is on the whole, excellent. To go with that you of course get to hear the new commentary duo in action and get an insight in to how recording commentary for FIFA 12 actually happens.

Still sceptical about Alan Smith?

Nice little article this from Matt Lafreniere, who is one of the lead EA SPORTS Football Club producers out in Canada. Since we interviewed the guys on EASFC last month and managed to eek out some more information, we’ve been waiting for another ‘official’ update and this article provides some brilliant news around the way XP and levelling will be handled in FIFA 12′s EASFC.

“So you don’t have to worry about Barcelona or Manchester United being at the top of their tables every day because they have the most supporters. It’s all about which club has the highest Average XP per supporter.”

Very good news indeed. Check out the rest of the article and more juicy EASFC details over at the EA SPORTS Football website.

Excited about this yet, or do we still need more to be convinced?

UPDATE: Oh and check this David Rutter interview out too, where he talks about EASFC.

I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned, but we were at EA Guildford again yesterday to play Career Mode and check out the progress made on the pitch since our visit last month.

Also present was Mr David Rutter, who was able to spare us a few minutes for a chat. The video quality is a bit dodgy unfortunately, I was pinned in a corner using a flipcam to film it, so you may get a bit seasick whilst viewing. I apologise, but there’s still no excuse, we’ll do better next time. Promise.

Anyway, here is the video of what happened when Dave met Dave.

And yes I agree, it does look like our Dave is touching himself a little bit.

UPDATE:

Many thanks to Xaor who has done some fiddling to improve the audio and cancel out some of the shaking. The better quality video is now embedded.
