Usually by this point on a Sunday there’s a podcast featuring yours truly available to download. Unfortunately there’s absolutely nothing to talk about this week – the much-anticipated patch hasn’t arrived yet and until then the only thing I can really say is that I’m still playing the game and still enjoying it, despite Manager Mode being in a bit of a state!

So instead of droning on about nothing for half an hour (nothing new there then), I’m going to point you to an interesting article written on the forums – posted in the podcast section funnily enough – written by Viniero09. It’s a little piece he calls The Twins, about the debate we love the most; PES vs FIFA. Click here to read it.

If you like it, or disagree with it, be sure to comment on the forums.

Secondly, and most importantly – all of the opinions within this podcast are based on the demo, which is not representative of the retail version of the game. Remember that!

Now that that’s out of the way I can explain the idea behind this podcast; I think we can all agree that constructive criticism is a wonderful thing and that feedback is essential.

All throughout the period of our Emirates playtest we were waxing lyrical about how good FIFA 10 is, but with three hours of play under our belts there wasn’t much time to look out for the things that could use improvement. So in a change from our normal 60 minutes of glee and excitement, here is a 25 minute podcast dedicated to the things I want to see changed in the final version of the game, and/or via patches. EA, I hope you’re listening!

(Oh, and the PES 2010 demo gets a mention as well.)

As we all know, FIFA 09 features Be A Pro mode where you can play as a single footballer, and PES 2009 also features a similar mode called Become A Legend. Both have their pros and cons, and today Eurogamer features a comparison of the two.

We know that Be A Pro Seasons only lasts for four seasons whereas Become A Legend lasts for ten or more, and Become A Legend also puts you on the bench occasionally when you start first-team matches whereas in FIFA you never start on the bench and you’re never substituted. But on the flip-side, in Be A Pro the players will actually pass the ball to you occasionally (whereas in Be A Legend the AI seems very reluctant to give you the ball until you’re a superstar), and also you can play 10v10 online whereas in Be A Legend you can only play 4vCPU online. And, of course, FIFA has the gameplay that everyone at FSB is in love with at the moment.

But don’t take our word for it; take a look at Eurogamer’s review.

What do you guys think of Be A Pro so far?

German gaming gurus Videogameszone.de have released a montage of comparison pictures where they take a look at a number of the faces of some of the bigger stars of FIFA 09 and PES 2009, comparing them side by side. Some of the likenesses are better for one game, some better for the other. To see them all, click here.

In-case anyone is looking at the kits on the left of each pic and wondering what teams the players are from, it would be Arsenal and Newcastle United. Guess the PES kit designers were on strike that day!

For your viewing pleasure, we whipped up a little slideshow video of the comparison pics along with one of the groovy FIFA 09 tracks. Enjoy!
