The Transfer Window Slams Shut

So that’s it, it’s all over, the excitement and tedium of the summer transfer window has finally come to an end, as the window slammed shut late last night leaving managers and fans everywhere either jumping for joy, or crying themselves to sleep.

The end of the transfer window represents the beginning of the season proper as managers now have to get on with things with the players at their disposal. No more unsettled players, no late helicopter flights, no more rumour and no more Harry Redknapp hanging out of his Range Rover, thank god. But lets not forget that the end of the transfer silly season also represents a huge milestone for FIFA 12…

Now that the dust has settled the FIFA 12 database team will go in to overdrive to amend each and every transfer and loan deal in the land, with a total of £466,000,000 spent in the Premier League alone this summer, they have quite a task on their hands. There are just 30 days until the release of FIFA 12 which makes the time-scales for the game to become “gold” and then be readied for distribution to retailers around the world very tight. Of course, there’s the FIFA 12 demo to think about too.

But for us FIFA gamers the transfer window matters not, because the opportunity to right the wrongs of your clubs summer spending strategy is just around the corner. With Career Mode looking like it’s going to deliver more than it ever has in FIFA 12, this really could be the year for offline FIFA gaming. And with Career Mode sporting it’s own Transfer Deadline Day feature this year too, a chance to relive the suspense and drama of what unfolded last night is something we should all look forward to.

Arsenal were without doubt the busiest club last night netting Santos, Mertesacker, Benayoun and the uber late deal for Arteta. Following on from the Park Chu-Young deal that represents pretty good business for Tom’s Gooners but I know deep down he’ll be itching to fill the void left by Cesc and Samir with some genuinely world class signings in Career Mode.

With Meireles, Bellamy, Crouch, Wright-Phillips, Joe Cole, Poulsen, Hargreaves, Jenas, Hutton, Jerome, Beckford, Drenthe, Ruiz, Bendtner, Diego, Ellia, Hleb, Forlan, Bradley, Ngog and Zarate all on the move the FIFA landscape has changed dramatically over the last 24 hours along  with our own priorities for FIFA 12 when we take the managerial hot seat.

Special mention has to go to AS Roma though, who managed to sign Pjanic, Gago and Kjaer showing that there really is value in the transfer market. Top work I’m sure you’ll agree.

So that’s it, FIFA 12 now heads in to its final pre-flight checks before the UK release on September the 30th but what we want to know, is who will be your first player IN and first player OUT in Career Mode?

The floor is yours.

With regards to the European competitions in season 1 of career mode, has anybody noticed that within the Gamescom video that was released, the career mode screens show Champions Cup games within the upcoming fixtures box (look carefully) and the date was February 2012, meaning that as far as i can see European games WILL be played in season 1, although how those teams are pre-determined i’m not sure (Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal for Champions Cup, Stoke, Birmingham etc for Europe Cup!!)…i can’t see how it can be a licensing issue with EA as they don’t hold the CL/Europa League licenses!!…it’s a generic competition!! But anyhow, revisit the video and look carefully!

Being a Leeds fan for my sins, probably need at least 7-8 players just for a decent squad!!!!!!
I am looking forward to the CM Transfer deadline day mode, looks awesome!!

  • Jee

@ dave edwards, i think i saw that in some thread (can’t remember where) but people were explaining that that was the name of the league or maybe because it was still early build stuff so maybe not entirely accurate (as that screenshot was meant to highlight the transfer deadline interface)

i was thinking of going with Arsenal because they had the most potential for career mode signings ( to try out new transfer system) , not an arsenal fan but still like them. I’d definitely ship out benayoun, probably bring in marko marin who i thought would have made a good replacement for nasri

@Dave Edwards Subscribed what you said! Check my topic at EA forum regarding Champions Cup in 1st season: http://forum.ea.com/uk/posts/list/966274.page

@Jee, thanks for the info, it’s just that it looks so right, the competition is colour coded correctly for european competition (purple)!, although Newcastle United in the Champions Cup is stretching it a bit!!!!
I can’t understand what licensing has to do with it, as some of the teams featuring in this years CL group stage games aren’t even in Fifa 12!!! Surely EA could pick appropriate teams for all the group stages in both Champions Cup & Europe League, it can’t be that difficult surely! Just seems incredibly lazy, and why is it that you can play FA Cup, League Cup etc but not a generic made up European competition that has NO licensing issues!! Bizarre!!

Kaka isn’t a an arsenal signing, sneijder would fit into the arsenal team better than what he would man utd.He plays the Arsenal way.

  • Klaustrus

Will be playing with a favourite team of mine; Cagliari Calcio.

First player in: A young, decent goalkeeper. Thinking Andrea Consigli, or… wait. No, have no other at the moment, any tips? Could go with youngster Ruzittu, just gamble.

First out: Probably same position; Michael Agazzi. And attacker Nenê.

Roma done awesome in the window. Shame i won’t get to play with them, fell out with the chairman in FIFA10 he sacked me when i was top of serie A. Who cares about getting knocked out of the stupid domestic cup, I was going to win the league and qualify for the champions league. Im not bitter ;)

    Arsenal, as always.
I’ve already made a list: Adler (Leverkusen), Hummels (Dortmund), Balzaretti (Palermo), Lucas (São Paulo), Thiago (Bercelona), Adryan (Flamengo’s 17yo wonder kid) and Cavani (Napoli).

  • Adam Neaves

    Birmingham City.

Spend some money for a change! lol

  • BC87X

    Spurs.

    In: Llorente, Sakho, and Mandanda

    Out: Pavlyuchenko, Bassong, Gomes

  • joel

    manchester city.
    ins: BUY ALL THE PLAYERS!!!

  • Cazaderon

Ea could screw that licencing problem around LC and EL by giving the choice to players who start a season to select wich competition their club is registered in.

Why not even give the ability to select manually all teams you want to see in CL and EL the first season ?
Also, even if your club is not registered, there’s still a CL and EL going on during the first season with teams that actually are playing it IRL.

So this explanation is REALLY not good for me….
