Theres a very good reason for putting your hand in your pocket and forking out for gold packs tomorrow. Starting at 00:01 GMT, for 24 hours, EA will be donating net proceeds from all Ultimate Team pack sales to the relief effort in Japan following the recent Earthquake and Tsunami. Net proceeds being all of the purchase price, less taxes.
The following appeal to fans was posted on EA.com
We here at EA and the FIFA team are devastated by the events in Japan. This has impacted our fans, their families, and people on our team in Vancouver. We’re asking all our fans to dig deep and do what they can to help Japan recover and bring hope to the people affected.
We know that football is a unifying force around the world, and we hope that our fans will join us in harnessing this positive force to help raise money for those that need help.
Please buy a FUT pack on Saturday and help deliver aid in Japan. Remember, *all* net proceeds from pack sales in FUT from midnight to midnight GMT on 26th March will go to the relief effort.
EASportsfootball also posted a message from FIFA Executive Producer Kaz Makita.
If you were planning to purchase any packs today or over the next week, do your bit and buy them tomorrow instead. If you’re not currently an Ultimate Team player, don’t forget that it’s free this year, it won’t cost you anything to download it, and buying a few packs to get you started won’t cost much, but will help people who need it. You might even find you enjoy FUT. You can also help by simply spreading the word.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Japan.
