Playtest Feedback Wanted!

Yes, we are happy hearing things about Messi, Torres, Barcelona and Liverpool, but all PES fans around the world we actually ask for more realism and better gameplay on all aspects of the games! First priorities of the new PES should be the animation system, physics and the whole feeling of the game, instead of working more on the lighting system or the shaders and the graphics itself! We want to see players moving like real people, after 2 years of the robot-soccer game... We want to feel the real soccer pulse when playing, like we did on pes 5 and 6.

Most of the hardcore fans of the game, are concerned about reading previews focusing more on the individuals: the faces, the cards for Messi, Etoo and Henry and all those staff that are enjoyable only when playing on a match like Barcelona vs Man Utd! But the last PES games were inacceptable when playing with any other club than the well known! The less good players where walking, dribbling, shooting and moving around really ugly and the whole game was not enjoyable when playing with a team with low attributes!

So, i would really like to see focus on the gameplay, the animations, the physics and the feeling for all teams and not specifically for the good ones! In PES 6 we enjoyed playing with Minanda and Castolo, but in PES 2008/2009 the game was really ugly playing with them... Please, give us information about those aspects, actual animation system and the ugly-robotic animations of PES... Is this fixed? Is real PES back?

By far the most impressive thing I've found is the community involvement in the PES development. Things like the "behind the scenes" videos and Konami aligning themselves (of sorts) with WENB, PESFAN and PESGAMING have really shown that they are open to fan feedback and care what we want. For years EA have been building up their games based on community feedback and from what was a pretty average product, they are now reaping the rewards of listening. Its good to see Konami have realised this and I can only hope for a great product this year.

So many other things have already been mentioned but I'd also like to say that I really want some gameplay video and information on ML. I guess the other bit of information I'm most looking forward to is some info on how they've improved online.

By the way, great work by the WENB team and especially Adam for all of his hard work and time giving to the PES community. Your work is much appreciated and by acting as the "PES link" between Konami and the community you are essentially helping to give the community the voice it needs.

I'm satisfied with what I've read from some progress reports but I'm slightly disappointed than none mentioned whether they were using the analogue stick for player movement. I know Adam said he used the dpad and this worries me, granted I could be wrong and the stick may feel the same as the dapd.

I've always used the dpad during the PS2 days but since PES 2008/2009 I've tried to use the stick for movement but I always revert back to the dpad because the sticks don't feel right. I personally hope Konami ditch the dpad or at least focus on using the sticks like many other sports games do.

I hope that in the next batch of play tests people use the analogue stick and set the record straight either way.

Thanks Dunc, Thanks Adam!

I appreciate the opportunity to play 'internet focus group' that we have here. PES is a great series fallen on hard times, and speaking as a guy who's bought multiple game systems just to play this game, I'm delighted to lend a hand.

I for one am enjoying the way the playtest feedback is being handled.

I think you guys tried to give us a good and unbiased view on the game you played, and I thing it translates well into our minds.

What I'd like to give feedback on regarding the playtest is that I liked the way you focused on the game feel, and on the way the game played. For the next sessions and feedback, I'd realy like to see the game move, and key differences from previous versions - remember the WE5 and WE6 that Konami released with 5 or 6 topics detailing the new things such as new moves, tactics and AI?

Furthermore, I'm waiting for the news on ML this week, but I'd like to read something about how the mode is different from previous years, what has been incorporated that the fans specifically asked for, and maybe some screens with some of those changes in the menus.

I think that's it for now, sorry for not being much more thorough.

Best regards,

Paulo Tavares

Sorry but that's the most rubbish thing I've read on this thread.Yeah, why should Konami improve PES in the first place?
If Messi can dribble through entire field, just don't do that - brilliant!!!
Let's go a step further : if you don't like the animations or AI - just don't play at all!!

let´s do this!
1ºstep-the playtest-from adam and suff are talking about, the game is shaping up in a way that water´s my mouth like a kid in front of a candy store, yeah i know it´s still in it´s early development, but the game play and looks very promising even without the mo-cap in it.so my trust in the game is from 0 to 10, right now 9.5, i have to be honest and say i´m concernd about some other aspects of the game but at this early stage that would just make me look like an ass, and with that said i´ll just sit back and enjoy the show calle pes2010 :D

2ºstep-the screenshots-absolutley amazing, and i belive they can improve it a bit more when the release date is upon us.nice one konami :)

3ºstep-what i want to see?- it´s incredibel, but i only wanted to get a batch of news regarding the master league, and my whish as been granted.
O.P.P.(ORIGINAL PES PLAYER)-SHOWING THE HATERS WHAT LOYALTY IS ALL ABOUT.

the fact that i've never really followed any game's development so constantly as I'm doing now for PES, is a clear indication that konami is doing at least something right. eventually, this whole pes versus fifa long-distance run can only be positive for every footie game player out there. of course, the huge leap graphically (and probably otherwise also) makes things obviously rather exciting. things are looking good indeed, and what i gather from everything i've read, quite revolutionary from konami historically, 'cos earlier they were known for not listening to fans, and they were just guessing what people may want from the series. so well done to konami, that's all i can say.

what I'd like to see? well, next wednesday i would like to hear something about BAL. the lack of information so far about BAL has been basically that UCL and UEL have been integrated, but that's pretty much it. I have a fear that we wouldn't even know about the integration if PSM3 didn't ask that. just a few sentences along the lines "we've fixed the teammate AI" would be rather encouraging. I suspect that the BAL won't be anything new fundamentally this year, but by no means, surprise me.

and then I would also like to request that Konami begin to release daily videocasts from the studio floor, where Aki Saito and his thumb would summarize briefly the past day. "this was a good day for PES" or "this day was a particularly bad day" etc. this would almost be quite brilliant.

Id like that, it would be a personal touch from the Konami guys but id imagine they would be extremely busy so this sort of thing is unlikely to happen.
I promise I wont be condescending in my posts.... I mean well guys :) Roll on PES 2011 and FIFA 11 :)
PES 2010 is my game of choice at the moment. FIFA 10 has been traded in and WC 2010 the AI simply isnt good enough.

Its all about the Gameplay for me. Im hoping to hear that it has come on leaps and bounds from PES 2009 and lets face it, this is much needed!

The graphics looking as fantastic as they do is a big bonus.

After watching the newest video I must say I have mixed feelings about the new card system.
Its all well and good being able to switch things on like full-back overlap, and striker track back but if you have to do it through the formation settings it could turn pes into a game of chess (and I don't mean in a good way!) with the person next to you changing their cards after watching you change yours (or somebody online pausing it straight after you've exited the menu).
If you can assign card changes (and slider settings) to a specifc button combination (ie R2 square) then it should be ok, otherwise it will be a right pain!
Hopefully they fix the AI this game as with past iterations its been hit and miss with attackers/defenders not making runs/wandering out of position and making automatic passes/clearances. Granted its doesn't happen all the time; it just does it enough to remind you the problem is there!

In terms of the shorts/net/ hair animation, to honest I don't give a hoot. The graphics (without watching it in HD) are without doubt the best for any football game I've seen. Konami has always been one step ahead of the competition when it comes to facial models, but I must say they have surpassed themselves this time!
Looking forward to hearing a playtest for the online portion of the game as that is where I spend most of my time with pes (I normally start off playing a master league for a few weeks but then get bored of the AI!)

Thanks for all the info Adam!

Dude, I totally agree. Seems to me like they have the same shity body models, and it makes me wonder if this has something to do with restricting the mechanics of their movement....hence there still being (despite some new nice looking mo ap anims) a certain robotness in lots of the gamescom vision....

It's also evident that they have slacked on the models by their insistence on the stupid tubular shorts. It's these stupid things that frustrate the fans. Are we to believe that to fix the shorts would be such a major task? They look ridiculous and no amount of new lighting or texturing is gonna change that. They've looked ridiculous for too long.

Seriously I've only become a 'consistent' gamer over the last few years- in that I now consistently fork out cash for games, so this sort of BS, where I am expected to pay for 2 games over two years before such obvious things are rectified is the type of thing that makes me wonder why I bother buying into these franchises in the first place and why I should remain a fan, no matter how 'cute' it is that we follow and wait on every word of a seeming likable Japanese man named Seabass.

Fix the shorts, EVERYONE thinks they're ugly........grrrrrrr.

Sorry.

i have to say i havent been too fussed with the nets. But having watched the man utd arsenal match and various others over the weekend they need to be tightened up and the shape should be square. This is the only way we willl get ultimate satisfaction in scoring. nets like these are needed:
